The Empire Club Championships for 2025 featured a strong field of players.
The Open Singles and Doubles post-section knockout phase saw some excellent matches which was not surprising given the quality of the field. Manish Ahlawat took out the Singles in a closely contested final against Martin Murdoch 3-1. Manish beat last years winner Callum Rusbridge in the Semi final, while Martin beat Darrell Brown in the other semi final. In the Open Doubles final Callum Rusbridge & Heath Murdoch were going for their 6th consecutive win in this event, but were put to the test by Manish & Martin. Callum and Heath got off to a flying start taking the first set convincingly. But, a slow start in the second set and Martin & Manish starting to get some big shots past them. Taking the second set and never looked back winning 3-1. The Second Division singles and doubles were played using results from the Open events, plus other matches so that all Second Division entrants at some time played each other so that final placings could be determined. Thanks to all who participated and made it such a good day. Thanks also to Callum for his organisation of the event and players and Maggie for her good work catering for the hungry, and Kevin Haines for managing the tournament Winners Open Singles 1.
