Summer Interclub Is Coming!

Yes, Summer Interclub is nearly upon us, with the competition starting on Wednesday 1st March at our Club and with entries due by Wednesday 22nd February. Click here for all the details. The competition is expected to finish on Wednesday 5th April.

November Round Robin Update

This individual competition concludes on Wednesday 23rd November and Club members have been doing well. Congratulations to James Harter, Michael Stechman and Russell Buchanan who are currently leading (or jointly leading) their respective grades.

Winter Interclub Series Two: Final Results

16/9/2016

There were four Empire teams competing in the Finals on 13th September, with two teams winning their grades and two teams finishing runners up.
In Premier Grade, Empire Entertainers did really well to reach the final but Waterloo Wasps proved to be too strong on the night.
In Division One, Empire Enforcers (Tony Rutledge, Andrew Maguire and Brendyn Shaw) won the grade after a long hard battle with Waterloo Wolves, only pulling away at the end.
In Division Two, Empire Elms (Vladimir Vysotskiy, Sochiro Eguchi and Yudi Yudistra) prevailed over the Empire Egrets again after a long hard battle.

Interclub Series Two: Finals Night!: 13th September

This Tuesday evening at our Stadium sees all three division finals taking place, with the Division One finalists switching from Wednesday to Tuesday especially for the occasion. Out teams feature strongly in the finals. In Premier Grade, Empire Entertainers face Waterloo Wasps, in Division One, Empire Enforcers play Waterloo Wolves whilst the Division Two final is an all Empire affair between Empire Elms and Empire Egrets. Come along and support our teams - there's sure to be some great table tennis to watch!

Best of luck to our finalists and a big thank you too, to everyone who turned out for the Club throughout the winter either as a regular or as a fill in..

Interclub Series Two: Semi Finals Upcoming

We are down to the sharp end in the Winter Interclub competition. Premier Grade and Division Two have reached the semi final stage, with Empire Entertainers and Empire Eagles involved in Premier Grade and Empire Egrets and Empire Elms involved in Division Two. Good luck to all! In Division One, Empire Enforcers have finished their programme and must wait to see if they remain in one of the top two spots.

Interclub Series Two: Progress Report

22/8/2016

Series Two Interclub is well underway with each Grade at a different point due to the differing number of teams in each Grade. The Premier Grade round robin concludes on 23rd August, Division One has three more rounds to go and Division Two has two more rounds to go.

In Premier Grade, our best placed team is Empire Entertainers who are lying third, with Depak Patel unbeaten. In Division One, Empire Enforcers are in second spot, wiith Tony Rutledge on 83.3% whilst in Division Two, Empire Elms lead the way with Vladimir Vysotskiy on 88.9%.

Congratulations too, to Vladimir Vysotskiy for winning the Division Two Grade Championship which was held last week. He beat another member, Kaz Witko in the final.

Grade Championships: Empire Clean Up!

Empire players won all three Grade Championships which were played on Tuesday 5th July following the completion of Winter Interclub the previous week. Congratulations to Depak Patel, Tony Rutledge and Vladimir Vysotskiy!

Winter Interclub Series One: Wrap Up

Winter Interclub Series One is done and dusted and thanks to all players, regulars and fill ins for taking part. We hope you will all be ready to do battle again in Series Two, which starts in late July.

Special congratulations to Empire Egrets who won Division Two and honourable mentions to Empire Elms (Runners Up: Division Two) Empire Enforcers (Runners Up: Division One) and Empire Entertainers (Third Place: Premier Grade).

Leading Empire Individuals were Ian Talbot (Premier Grade), Tony Rutledge (Division One) and Vladimir Vysotskiy (Division Two).

The very best of luck to Empire Enforcers who have reached the Division One final on 29th June and to Empire Elms and Empire Egrets who are playing off against each other in the Division Two final on 28th June Go well also, Empire Entertainers who are playing off for 3rd/4th place in Division One on 28th June.

Winter Interclub Series One: Play Off Time!

This week (21st/22nd June) sees the the first play off stages in Premier Grade and Division One and the last round robin round in Division Two. Congratulations to Empire Entertainers and Empire Enforcers who are contesting semi finals in Premier Grade and Division One respectively. Winter Interclub: Round #4 Update

On his return from holiday, your website custodian found that Series One is nearing the end of the round robin stage. Round #4 took place on 8th/9th June and the results from Round #5 next week will determine the play offs draw.

In Premier Grade Empire Entertainers are tracking well for a semi final spot, whilst Empire Enforcers and Empire Egrets are topping the table in Division One and Division Two respectively.

Summer Interclub Wrap Up

A little belatedly, he is a wrap up of the Summer Interclub Finals played on 30th March and the Grade Championships played on 6th April. Members performed strongly in all divisions.

In Division One, Nomads (including member Chris Talbot) were runners up.

.In Division Two, Empire Empresses (Jo Roberts, Raewyn Young) were the winners.

In Division Three, Enigmas (Basil Kananghinis, Om Thakur) won the Division and Enforcers (Liam Johnston, Ian Grace) were runners up.

In the Division One Grade Championships, Depak Patel won the singles and was runner up in the doubles and Ian Talbot was runner up in the singles and won the doubles.

In the Division Three Grade Championships, Om Thakur was runner up in the singles and Graham Sole & Ian Grace won the doubles.

Summer Interclub: Play Offs

The round robin has been completed and the play offs for all divisions take place on Wednesday 30th March at our stadium. Three or our teams (Empresses, EnIgmas and Enforcers) have made the 1st/2nd place play offs in their respective divisions as has member Chris Talbot who is a member of a composite team. Congratulations too, to Jo Roberts (Empresses) who remained unbeaten through the round robin. Summer Interclub: Round #4 Summary

Round #4 was completed on Wednesday 16th March and the sharp end of the competition is approaching with the last round robin round on 23rd March. Empire and Enigmas continue to lead Divisions Two and Three respectively and Nomads (who include member Chris Talbot) continue to lead Division One. Depak Patel and Jo Roberts remain unbeaten. Round #3 was completed on Wednesday 9th March and the round robin is over the half way stage. Two full Empire teams (Empresses and Enigmas) are leading Divisions Two and Three respectively whilst Nomads (a composite team including member Chris Talbot) leads Division One. Round #1 was completed on 24th February with four of our teams (Emperors, Empresses, Envoys and Enigmas) starting with wins. Nomads (a composite team including our member Chris Talbot) also opened with a win. Well done to those teams and looking forward to our other teams getting on the board soon!

November Competition: Under Way

The November Competition run by Table Tennis Wellington is under way, with the first matches taking place on Wednesday 4th November. Veterans Super League: Starts 20th October

17/10/2015

This competition is open to players over the age of 40 only and will run at the Empire Stadium on Tuesday nights before Christmas. One of the aims of the competition is to give Wellington players further opportunities to play and work towards the NZ Veterans Tournament at Palmerston North, Easter 2016. If you are interested, get in quick, as games start Tuesday 20th October. See our october newsletter for details on how to enter.

Winter Interclub Series Two: Semi Finals

This week sees semi finals in Premier Grade and Division One and the completion of the round robin stage in Division Two. In Premier Grade, Empire Eveready have reached the semi finals whilst in Division One we are sure of a finalist as Empire Eagles and Empire Elders are playing each other!
