More 2014 Successes

Members have been performing well in some end of year competitions.
Martin Young was third in the singles in the New Chinese Friendship Association Tournament and Paul Solt was part of team who were runners up in the Business Class Competition run by Table Tennis Wellington. Congratulations to them!

Composite Interclub: Finals Report

It was an excellent night for our players at the Composite Interclub finals on 3rd December.
In Division One, Team Gan (John Gan, Matt Hobbs and Brendyn Shaw) won 6-5 over Team Talbot (Ian Talbot, Tony Rutledge with Shane Gibson).
In Division Two, The Force (Travis Dyer, Jimi Nelson with Dean McNicholl) triumphed 7-4 over Team Grace (Ian Grace, Anita Crowe with Chris Sutton).

Xmas Dinner: A Great Time & Special Awards!

Our Xmas Dinner at Cowboy Jack's in Lower Hutt went off very well and a good time was had by all. Thanks goes to our Board for organising it. The only formal part of the evening was the presentation of our annual special trophies. Congratulation to the winners who were:
Best Club Member (Ron Menchi Cup): Raewyn Young
Best Sportsperson (R E Mitchell Cup): Harry Chen
Most Improved Player (J R Capstick Cup): Zhidong Yu
Most Outstanding Performance (Empire Table Tennis Club Cup): Merv Allardyce & Eddie Moore, who were runners up in the over 80 consolation doubles at the World Veterans Championships in Auckland.
Team Of The Year (Allardyce Family Trophy): Empire Elves (Cayden Larson, Jimi Nelson, Travis Dyer and Conor McCarthy) who won the Table Tennis Wellington Interclub Division Three competition.
Best Male Interclub Record (Alf Harding Cup): Mat Hobbs
Best Female Interclub Record (Merle Harding Cup): Maggie Dyer
100 Interclub Appearances Certificate: John Gan
50 Interclub Appearances Certificate: Harry Chen

Composite Interclub: Finals Night Tonight!

It's Finals Night tonight (3rd December) and our players are heavily involved.
In Division One, Team Gan (John Gan, Rob Chung, Mat Hobbs and Brendyn Shaw) play Team Talbot (Chris Talbot, Ian Talbot and Tony Rutledge).
In Division Two, The Force (Travis Dyer and Jimi Nelson) play Team Grace (Ian Grace, Dawn Dorresteijn and Anita Crowe).
There are play offs for the other positions too and the Table Tennis Wellington prize giving follows, so come along and support our players!
