Midweek Doubles Tournament: Results

As mentioned in the previous post, this annual event was held at Empire on 18th September, with 48 pairs competing. In addition to Empire member there were players from Kapiti, Levin, Masterton, Mount Victoria, Palmerston North, Tawa, Waikanae and Wanuiomata.

Players competed in eight groups. Successful Empire teams included:
Warren Mak & David Chow: Winners, Group 1
Rob Chung & Paul Solt: Runners Up, Group 1
Norman Chan & Allen Tso: Winners, Group 2
Tina Ng & Anna Chung: Runners Up, Group 2
Kevin Tse & Buck Chan: Winners, Group 3
Bill Kilmartin & Kheng Tang: Winners, Group 6
Paul Maunsell & Percy Kwing: Runners Up, Group 7
Sean Gribbon & Bruce McKenna: Winners, Group 8
Penn Pattison & Emma Jin: Runners Up, Group 8

A great time was had by all at this annual event on 18th September which attracted nearly 100 entries. Full results will appear later but in the meantime click here to see pictures and videos taken by our member Phillip Yee. Many thanks to Arthur Lee and his team for organising and running it.

Junior Club: Holiday Break

A reminder that the last Club Night for the term will be this Friday 26th September. The club will be closed on Friday 3rd October and Friday 10th October and will start again on Friday 17th October for Term 4.

Winter Interclub: Series 2: It's Finals Night!

May the force be with Empire Evils, Empire Engines and Empire Elves who are all contesting finals in their respective grades at the finals night at Empire tonight (16th September). Good luck as well to all our other teams contesting play offs.

TTW Junior Development Tournament.

The second TTW Junior Development Tournament of the year will take place on Sunday 21st September at Empire. Age categories are Under 17, Under 14 and Under 12 as at 31st December 2013. Midweek Doubles Tournament: 18th September

A reminder that our annual Midweek Doubles Tournament will take place on Thursday 18th September at Empire, commencing at 9.30am. This well run tournament is suitable for players of all levels of ability and attracts players from other clubs and regions.

Winter Interclub Series 2: Update

We have nearly reached the finishing line! This week sees the last rounds before Finals Evening on Tuesday 16th September. This is how our teams are doing:
Premier: As reported last week Empire Eagles and Empire Entertainers play their semi finals this week.
Division 1: Empire Evils have already reached the final and Empire Elders have a chance to make the 3rd/4th place play off.
Division 2: The finalists here are still to be determined. Empire Engines have a strong chance of getting there.
Division 3: Empire Elves have already reached the final.

Winter Interclub Series 2: Rounds #4 & #5

As we reach the sharp end of the season our teams are performing well. Empire Engines (with Peter Douglas still unbeaten) and Empire Elves (with both Travis Dyer and Cayden Larson still unbeaten) lead their respective grades whilst in the Premier grade both Empire Eagles and Empire Entertainers have reached the semi finals, which will be played on 9th September.
