These championships are held annually over the Easter weekend and draw top veteran players from New Zealand and Australia. This year the event was held in Whangarei and we congratulate the following club members for achieving podium finishes:
Members have been performing well in some end of year competitions.
Martin Young was third in the singles in the New Chinese Friendship Association Tournament and Paul Solt was part of team who were runners up in the Business Class Competition run by Table Tennis Wellington. Congratulations to them! More details are available on the table tennis wellington website. We would like to acknowledge the efforts and skill of club members Paul Solt and Depak Patel, who along with Hayden Tapp from the Waterloo club, coached the Wellington juniors at the recent New Zealand Junior Championships at Palmerston North, with the teams in particular punching above their weight.
A reminder that our Friday Night Club restarts on Friday 25th July after the school holidays. We hope to see all those who played last term back and raring to go and newcomers are also very welcome. Go to our to play page for more details.
Congratulations also to Liam Buckrell who played really well in the recent New Zealand Junior Championships. See the table tennis wellington website for the full story. Our website person will be on holiday from 5th-23rd May. Rumours that he is jetting off to Zimbabwe on a recruiting mission are not true. Please note:
A big thank you to all those who supported this event last night at the Lighthouse, Petone. The Grand Budapest Hotel was an entertaining and slightly weird movie and it looked like a good time was had by all. Thanks also to Maggie Dyer and her team for organising the event and providing the supper.
